Job Title: Operations Finance AnalystSalary: £26,000Location: Wakefield
OVERVIEW:
An exciting opportunity to join a fast paced manufacturing business in Wakefield.
You will use your finance and communication skills to support Line Managers across the business in driving through improvements and cost savings.
THE ROLE Job Purpose
-Support the Head of Operational Finance to influence positive business change in Operational departments of the business; with a focus on efficiency and driving costs out of the business.
-Timely and relevant internal Operational reporting and analysis (sometimes to tight deadlines). To ensure strong financial controls and processes are adhered to both within Finance and throughout Operations. To track and help manage capital and exceptional revenue expenditure.
Dimensions of Job/Key Performance Indicators
Dealing with:-
-Direct costs: £60m
-Indirect costs £20m Key Accountabilities;
Driving Performance
-Delivering great quality insight and analysis in order to drive and influence positive business improvements (drive for reduced costs and efficiency)
-Responsible for comprehensive manufacturing finance reporting for the company's manufacturing including:
*Maintenance and review of shift reports
*Preparation and review of daily manufacturing reporting suite for both sites
*Preparation and review of Operations reporting suite - periodic & weekly stream summary, material usage variances, waterfall charts, commentary and reconciliations, stoppage & waste graphs.
-Attendance at Operations meetings as required
-Support and provide analysis for Manufacturing PDPs (Profit Delivery Process) and Continuous Improvement (CI) Plant Manager Projects.
-Working closely with Head of Operational Finance - Operations to continually challenge and improve both quality and ease of Reporting and also accuracy and reliability of input data from factories.
-Ad hoc analysis and support as required by Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Engineering
Performance Reporting
-Ensure period-end deadlines are met for preparation and analysis of stream summaries
-Preparation of Period Review Slides for operations & supply chain
-Prepare stock turn report and analyse.
-Prepare Site and H&S period overheads, including accruals and prepayments.
-Liaison with internal and external auditors, providing relevant and timely information where required
-To provide information to Group Finance as required Forecasting & Budgeting
-Coordination, preparation and challenge of Operations Forecasts and Budgets, including H&S and Site overheads
-Coordination and analysis of stock forecasts and budgets, including stock revaluation and overhead in stock calculations Systems and processes
-Supporting Head of Operational Finance to continually challenge and improve both quality and ease of reporting and also accuracy and reliability of input data from factories. Financial Control
-To ensure that processes and procedures are clear and well documented and support a strong control environment
-Ensure that controls for Capex are appropriate and are being adhered to Capex Appraisal & tracking
-Preparation of project justifications and discounted cash flows.
-Coordination of post-implementation reviews for major projects as required, including analysis and challenge where necessary.
-Help manage capital projects process by tracking spend and assisting in the ordering process.
-Assist in capital budgeting. Other
-Maintenance of Standard product values file, ensuring integrity with NPD costings.
-Maintenance of the company's absenteeism reporting system.
-Support and promote Health & Safety at work THE CANDIDATE-You will have previous experience in a Finance role and be studying towards a formal qualification - AAT / CIMA / ACCA.
-Great communication skills
-Ability to influence and support line managers outside the finance teams to change process and practice that will lead of driving cost out of the business.
