Department/Branch: Regional based 4 days per week. Working from home 1 day per week.

Reporting to: Managing Director

Established 33 years ago this private cosmetic clinic has evolved into one of the UK’s largest provider of plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments with a network of 12 clinics nationwide (from Scotland to the South West) and over 50 surgeons and doctors working them.

The role

The National Head of Clinical Services will:

  • lead, direct and motivate the UK-wide clinical and therapies teams
  • support the Clinic Managers in the day-to-day running, management and development of the individual, nationwide clinics.
  • Be part of the Senior Management Team and develop and implement the clinical strategy and ensure practice is in line with current legislation and industry standards.

Reporting Line

The National Head of Clinical Services will be accountable to the Group Managing Director.

Key Working Relationships

The National Head of Clinical Services will work in partnership with the:

  • Clinic Managers
  • Head of Quality and Clinical Governance
  • Directors of Operations
  • Finance Director
  • Medical Director
  • Responsible Officer

Main Duties:

Strategic

  • Promote a safe, caring, effective, responsive and well led patient focused service for the continuing success of Organisation and the individual clinics which make up the company.
  • Lead on ensuring individual clinics provide care and services in line with CQC Regulations and other legislation relevant to clinical practice.
  • Work closely, and communicate regularly with Clinic Managers
  • Lead on the development of and implementation of Organisation’s clinical strategy and provide support and input to the overall business strategy, consistent with corporate values, aims and objectives.

Clinical Leadership

  • Set and maintain evidence based clinical practice standards.
  • Develop and share new and innovative evidence based clinical practice.
  • Ensure clinical pathways are evidence based and that care is client centred.
  • Act as a clinical resource maintaining up to date and in-depth clinical knowledge and skills in critical thinking, clinical decision-making in the cosmetic sector.
  • Provide operational and clinical support and guidance for medicines management and be the Accountable Officer.
  • Act as Lead Nurse for safeguarding ensuring staff know how to escalate concerns and how to manage safeguarding concerns.
  • Act as the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control for the hospital (LIPC) and to ensure clinical practice minimizes infection risks for clients, any infections are recorded and investigated and that antibiotic usage is monitored.
  • Ensure MHRA and CAS alerts are shared and actioned or changes to practice are implemented as appropriate.
  • Ensure clients have access to written and verbal information appropriate to their needs.
  • Lead on nurse revalidation programme in line with NMC requirements
  • Support the Head of Quality and Clinical Governance in the development of strategies and policies for service improvement.
  • Develop a working environment and culture that actively improves health, safety and security.
  • Work in partnership with Directors of Operations, clinic managers and consultants to achieve the delivery of  the Organisation’s annual clinical and business strategy.

Operational

  • To work with all clinics within the group and ensure face-to-face contact with managers and staff and perform regular site visits to all clinics which are located between Scotland and the South West of England.
  • Lead by example and participate within the clinical team as required, both within the theatre in providing scrub assistance in operative procedures or within the pre/post-op areas, consenting and discharging patients.
  • Lead and support Clinic Managers to ensure any issues, concerns or variance to practice is identified and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Deliver teaching as required.
  • Support the Clinic Manager in the investigation of clinical incidents and complaints ensuring that mechanisms exist to instigate any necessary remedial action where professional issues are identified and ensure lessons learned are shared as appropriate.
  • Advise and support the pathway management for a client with more complex needs.
  • Be responsible for managing the out of hours on call rota to ensuring 24 hour access to clinical advice and support.
  • Ensure they attend the meetings as laid out in the Organisation’s governance framework and ensure they act as a conduit for accurate and timely information both up and down the Organisational structure.

General

  • Provide, receive and manage complex, sensitive or contentious information securely and in line with information governance requirements.
  • To support the Clinic Managers in ensuring the clinical environment is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Promote and influence a culture that actively supports safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
  • Manage staff expectations and support their professional development in line with the needs of the developing business.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the Organisation.
